Over the years, Husthwaite has been home to many village ‘characters’ .  This section is dedicated to them and to their lives in the community.

Raymond Fox was born in Husthwaite and spent the whole of his life in Clarence House. The Fox family had been builders in the village for many generations.  Raymond loved Husthwaite and his home. For that reason he never wanted to leave it after his war-time service in the Royal Armoured Corps.

He married Bessie in 1949, and their son Anthony was born in 1953. Raymond played cricket and travelled to many places to watch the sport which he enjoyed. Football also was his great interest.

People in the village miss Raymond for his chat, as he took great interest in events, and enjoyed his life after retiring. He obtained great pleasure from watching his grandchildren grow and enter the family business.  He will be remembered for very many years.
